While generally safe, a kidney biopsy does carry some risks, including:
Bleeding: Minor bleeding is common, but severe bleeding is rare and may require further medical intervention. Infection: There is a small risk of infection at the biopsy site. Pain: Some discomfort or pain at the biopsy site is normal post-procedure. Damage to surrounding organs: Rarely, the needle may damage other organs or structures near the kidney. Blood in the urine: Hematuria can occur but usually resolves on its own.
